Hello everyone

I know it has been sometime since we have sent out a stable newsletter so firstly apologies for that.

I’m sure everyone is aware that I had a tumble at trackwork at Morphettville in mid June. Unfortunately I fractured my hip and it has been a long recovery process over the past four months.

As we have all noticed the stable led brilliantly by Andrew has run like clockwork over this period. In fact since the new racing season commenced on August 1 we have cheered home eleven winners. Ten of these have been in the metropolitan area and presently we sit atop of the premiership table.

Thankfully with the better fortune our State has experienced to date with the Covid pandemic it has also not been too difficult for us to see our owners at the track.

Winners this term have been Manhatten Times x2, Extra Time x2, Winning Weather, Pimm’s Party, Star Status, Kheshig, Hopon Harry, So You Can, and Another Award. A big congratulations to all of the connections associated with these horses.

We must also acknowledge the recent terrific third placing of our star galloper Dalasan in the Group 1 Epsom in Sydney, and it has been confirmed today that Daniel Moor will take the ride in the Cox Plate. He truly has been a remarkable performer at the highest level in Australian racing.

The stable has also enjoyed seeing our two apprentice riders Teagan Voorham and Felicity Atkinson having success as well.

Teagan only returned to race riding on August 21 after breaking her leg last year. She had a fairytale comeback winning with her first ride back aboard Extra Time.

Another three city winners have since followed and also success aboard Kheshig for the stable on Balaklava Cup day.

Felicity continues to develop her skills on the provincial and country circuit and her tally of wins currently sits at sixteen. It was a big day for Felicity on October 2 when she won the Jamestown Cup on Baldy for Peter Nolan.

Whilst on jockeys we should acknowledge my former apprentice Jason Holder who continues to be part of the team.

Stubby too has had a wonderful start to the new racing season and is also sitting at the top of the premiership tables.

At present it is enjoyable looking in the rear vision with what we have achieved so far this term.

However Andrew and I know the windscreen is what we must concentrate on and we are excited about the road ahead.

All the best

Leon
